Value is winning holiday sales as TJX, Ross and Walmart surge, Target tumbles

Holiday shoppers are prioritizing value as a flurry of big-box earnings were reported this week. Sales at off-price retailers like Ross and TJX, parent company to TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Homegoods, soared while spending at Walmart increased and Target tumbled. According to company leaders, TJX sales are driven by lower-income individuals, while Walmart saw its number of wealthy shoppers grow.
